In-Person Herbal Internship Programs

Our Herbal Internship Program is inclusive, catering to both novice and seasoned herbal enthusiasts interested in expanding their knowledge and contemplating a more profound involvement in herbalism.

FARM INTERNSHIP-April through October, Mondays 10am-3pm
HERB SHOP/ KITCHEN INTERNSHIP- November through May

Farm Internship:

When: Tuesdays, 10am-1pm, April-October, 2024
Where: On our herb farm in West Greenwich, RI
Requirements: Expectations for farm interns include an interview, access to personal transportation, being comfortable working in the sun and with manual labor, and having fun!
Day to day: A typical day might include harvesting, weeding, mulching, composting, and more.

Herb Shop & Medicine Making Internship:

When: Weekdays (Monday through Friday), November – May. Shifts are 3 hours per week.
Where: Farmacy Herbs in Providence
Requirements: You must have completed our Level 1: In-Person Herbal Foundations program or our farm internship program.
Day to day:
A typical day might include tincture pouring or pressing, tea making, labeling, processing herbs, filling herb jars, and more.

Payment Options

Internship Fees

Due the large amount of applicants and the time it takes to process applications, there is an application fee of $25 associated with our internship programs. The internship itself costs $350. These fees need to be paid in full by the start of the program.

Scholarship & Sliding Scale

Our scholarship and sliding scale policies apply to our internship programs, and are free of charge to people of color, immigrants, and people who have been structurally denied access to herbal education and healthcare, transgender, queer, and gender nonconforming people, people with disabilities, and people who make under $10,000 per year (not available to college students whose parents pay for school).

Policies

Applicants are asked to:

  • be over 18 years of age
  • complete an online application
  • complete a short interview online
  • have reliable transportation
  • interns are asked to  sign a work agreement, be punctual, commit to working the same shift for the duration of the program, have a willingness to learn and positive outlook

In our classes, we prioritize the incorporation of social justice and health justice principles. We are committed to establishing a space that is inclusive, welcoming, and accessible to all who wish to explore the world of herbalism. We kindly ask that both instructors and participants interact with one another in a manner that demonstrates respect and inclusivity, irrespective of gender, class, race/culture, sexual orientation, religion, immigration status, political beliefs, age, ability, or appearance. In all Farmacy programs, we acknowledge and work to dismantle systemic oppression, in order to address and work towards dismantling the deeply ingrained inequalities and injustices that persist in society.

 

WORK TRADE/ TIME BANK POLICY:
All internship hours must be fully completed  before they can be applied towards class credits.
